Start Menu ICONS

I have just joined the Major Geeks forum and would some help for a simple problem. The MS Office 2003 icons on my start menu have suddenly all changed to a standard form (all has been well since installation back in March). The programs all operate as normal so I'm a bit confused by this sudden behaviour. I have removed them and re-installed but the problem returns after a re-start. I'm using XP Pro; the full Norton anti-virus/firewall etc and perform regular scans and auto virus definition updates. Any help for this would be appreiciated.

Thanks for the suggestion but that doesn't fix the problem. Whislt your reference cleared the recently called programs my problem is with the permanent icon that stay there. This is also occuring to the Internet Exlorer and Outlook Express icons that can be activated via the taskbar properties. All get the "standard" short cut icon and not that of the actual program icon.
