My laptop is running extremely slowly on start up, seems to take an age to get going. I have run many spyware programs but they say there is nothing BUT i think you are the correct guys to tell me whether there is something there or not !
Could you please point me in the right direction for now and i will continue with the tests and tasks you give me, cheers.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gifAfter doing ALL of the above and you still have a problem, make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below thread to properly use HijackThis and attach the log:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis
    • Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around..
http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gifWhen you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
    • CounterSpy
    • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy
    • Bitdefender - from step 6
    • Panda Scan - from step 6
    • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
    • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
    • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs![/FONT]

Your logs look good, I don't see anything bad so I don't believe this problem is Malware related.

Hmm, most odd, by the way thanks very very much for checking, i will say one thing though my stupid internet connection is ADSL Max and one day it is 1.8 meg (believe it or not thats the best i can get) and then its down to 450 kb and thats maybe when im getting the problems as i seem to struggle to get the laptop to even connect to a wireless network even if its next to the router, any ideas what i should do now? Clearly the laptop is not seeing the router, is there anything i can do thats not tooooo technical.

I currently have a 1.5 DSL connection with Bellsouth and some days I will go as low as 46 kilobits a second, yesterday I had to call and find out what was going on. I think they had a major problem but it seems ok now. Monday morning the cable company is supposed to come fix my 5 meg cable internet.

I would post in the Software Forum is your system is running slow because it's not malware related.
