Hello and welcome to MG's no matter what you need we're here to help IMO MG's is the best comp tech site there is, no matter how much help you need !!

If you follow the instructions below i'm sure you can't go wrong ! :)

Click on Start >> Run and in the run line type in “msconfig” hit enter or click on OK.

A window like the one below will open :

Next click on the Start Up tab. By default all items are usually checked, but you can remove any items that you don’t want running when you start your computer, if unsure about any find out about them first !!

After you have made your selection, click Apply, OK and then click Restart.

You should now notice some improvement in your start up time.

Let me also point out that by following this you can also reverse these actions to restart a program, if you think that you may have stopped one that you realise afterwards that you didn't want stopping !

P.S PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND MAKE SURE THAT YOU KNOW WHICH PROGRAMS YOU WANT TO STOP AT START-UP !!!

Hope you find that this helps ! :)

rustyjack, with all due respect *msconfig* is a diagnostic tool. This should not be used as a permanent start up config manager :)

    Cheers..

That's all right rustyjack. I only suggested, we could help out in reducing the start up to minimum if he/she so chooses. The app suggested can be reconfigured anytime :) On the other hand msconfig should not be used to control start ups. As confirmed by dr.moriarty.
    Cheers :)
