    Hi,

I had recently set this PC (running XP) to be able to go directly to the internet upon start-up (instead of the screen which displays the various User Accounts to choose from), but now it has reverted back to that (an extra screen to click through when all I usually ever wish to do is go straight to the net to check email, etc.).

I thought that it was in the Start>Properties process that I had set this, but now I can't seem to find it (and I've looked everywhere I can think of in the Control Panel - Internet Options, Network Connections, etc., etc., etc.).

Any help is appreciated - glenn

Are you referring to the Windows XP login screen displaying Windows user accounts?

Alright, then go to Control Panel, User Accounts, and click on your account. You should be able to set it to automatically log in when you start the computer.

ok, yes, I see what you're saying, but that is more of a "local-security" thing (security measure - and I DO certainly ALWAYS appreciate learning about Security, but ...) ... I was looking for more of a "convenience" thing, and I could have sworn there was a box to check (tick) within right-click>Start>right-click>Properties ...

    - I am simply looking to bypass that Windows XP Login screen, and I had it covered (was going STRAIGHT to my Home Web Page upon start-up), until a recent System Restore - now I can't seem to find it (?) ...

Try this link and be sure to read through the page, comments included and also read the microsoft links given. http://www.technipages.com/enabledisable-login-prompt-for-windows-xp.html

Ive been using a no logon screen for ages (my homepage just shows up) and don't remember how it was done. :banghead Just see the welcome screen for a sec without the logon screen and then it just goes away.

Ouch! I did not realize (think about) that. I'll leave it alone and leave as is - that's the last thing I need - thank you!
