    Hello,

Between my memory not getting any better, and the list of programs here at MG's becoming so vast, I cannot recall where (under which Catergory of "Files") I would find 'Startup Managers'.

This would be for a Vista Home/Basic OS, and am not allowed to utilize WIN-Defender as I am utilizing MSSE (which overides Defender).

    Thanks in adance,

    Greetings, grc123...

You're probably looking for the Process Management section.

Recommendation: Startup Control Panel (which as the name implies installs as a Control Panel applet) - good little freebie program. The standalone version of the program is here.

    Greetings, Caliban!

Process Management is indeed what I was seeking..however (though I could certainly be incorrect here), I don't believe StartupCP supports any Windows OS beyond XP..? I am running WIN7 on my laptop/netbook, and Vista on my desktop.

I have (at least temporarily) opted for AutoRuns from MS http://majorgeeks.com/Autoruns_d4686.html . . . I may regret it after seeing ALL the possibilities there, but I also recall I had once utilized a program named "What's in Startup" (I believe?) , which I think will serve my purpose also.

    Thanks again!
    Glenn

Ah! You're right about the Startup CPL OS support - my bad, and I apologize...

As far as Autoruns goes, be careful - that is a very powerful program.

Autoruns does appear PLENTY feature-rich enough to REALLY mess things up! :crybaby:eek:crybaby:foolish:banghead

    Thanks again, :wave

    Beautiful..thank you both..

I always take MA's recommendations serious (rather obvious, I suppose), and have used WhatInStartup, and liked it. As well, I also have some rather "long lost" experiences with good ol' WinPatrol..primarily for its "malware" ("baddie") fighting capacity...I tend to forget about its preventative (startup) properties ~ thanks again to you both! ;)
