Startup problem

Hello I made an account here beause I cannot fix my pc and google ain't helping.



So my PC laptop only woks in safe mode. When I start in normal the screen turns black and yet I still have control over the mouse. It won't let me do a system restore and "Last known good configuration" doesn't work. I also tried deleting my video card but that didn't work.

Just before it broke, windows (Vista) updated itself and then asked me to restart...




Please please help. Thank you.

 

Can you elaborate on what you mean when you say the screen goes blank? Can you still see the mouse when you move it?

 

Well let's see I press enter for "Start Windows Normally" or w/e and then the screen loads everything as a check "'Blank' system ram passed etc etc" then the screen goes black for a few moments, then a "Microsoft Corporation" loading bar appears for a few moments and then the screen turns black. The pointer appears and lets me have control over it, but the screen never shows any picture. The select user screen should show but the screen remains black.

PS: its still a luminous black if you know what I mean.


And yes I can move the bright white mouse all around but nothing happens.

 

Have you tried launching the Task Manager with CTRL+ALT+DEL? Does it come up? If so, click 'File' > 'New Task...' and type explorer and press Enter. Hopefully that will do something for you. You can also try pressing F8 repeatedly right after the PC logo screen goes away after powering on. This should bring up a boot options menu and 'Startup repair' is one of the options (if I'm remembering correctly; I don't have Vista on my home PC) and that should help. If not, and you have your Vista install disc, boot to it and select 'Repair my computer'. Good luck!
