My son’s PC, DELL – Windows 7 64bit, seems to be stuck in the Startup Repair Loop. He was apparently listening to music videos before this problem started. We’ve run the FRST64 from a flash drive and have attached the log. thanks in advance...

Not seeing much to do at all from the log you have given me. Let's try though. Be aware, I may send you off to the software forum.

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system

    Attached is fixlist.txt
    • Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
    • You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST64.exe on your flash drive.

    Now re-enter System Recovery Options.
Run FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt).
Please attach this to your next message. (How to attach)

Are you now able to boot normally or not?

Negative. It sets up loading windows files and goes directly to the ‘startup repair’ window again. Those options either send me into a repair loop or shut down the computer…

Ok, I’ve run FRST64 again with the new fixlist text file. I’ve attached the new log for your review.

At this moment I cannot boot normally…

I think it's time to say that you might be better off posting in the software forum about this. ;) Very best of luck in resolving your issues. If it gets sorted, do feel free to return here for a full malware check up!

Ok, I’ll give it a try. I must say though, this isn’t my first time here and ALL of you at Major Geeks are very helpful and VERY professional in your approach and dealings with us here in cuckoo land!

    Thanks for the help!

Please run another scan with FRST like you did when you first started this thread and attach the new log. Just want to be sure that nothing new shows up.

    Let's try the below.

Download this >> View attachment fixlist.txt

Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
    • You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST64.exe on your flash drive.
Now reboot back into the System Recovery Options as you did previously.
Run FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt).
Please attach this to your next message. (See how to attach)

Now see if you can boot into normal Windows.

I’ve run FRST and used the new fixlist file and attached the log file.

I’ve restarted the computer and it’s still returning to the “startup repair” windows…
