I hope you can help. This computer won't start. It fails to repair when I try to repair with a repair disk. I went to do a system restore but it says the restore points are turned off???

Computer runs Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on an i5. I hope I've included enough details from the error below. Some computer specs are included from an old receipt. The computer is a built not a brand.

I tried the things on that thread. I then tried a custom reinstallation. It was very slow, taking forever to expand the files, then getting stuck at the last step.

I restarted after 20 hours but no luck. For now I bought a new HD and have reinstalled windows, an antivirus and Malware Bytes, just to get the PC running for my wife again. Hopefully I can retrieve the data when I have some time.

    Thanks

I just took the old drive out and put it in a USB enclosure to take a look. It seems like there is nothing left. I'm panicked. It looks like there is nothing left of what I need.

Any suggestions on how I can try to extract my data?

    What I did was

    bootsect /nt60 SYS /mbr

and it said it was successful. Then I did a custom re installation / upgrade.

Can I get my stuff back?

    Thanks
