One of our employees has a notebook that floats between two subnets (home and office) - so that probably means he can't do fixed IPs? Correct?

If your DHCP server supports it, you can set a DHCP reservation. This means he is always dynamically assigned the SAME IP address. Then you can leave DHCP enabled on the machine, and get an address automatically on other networks.

It's a very simple process of mapping his MAC address to the IP you want him to have.

IIRC, you're running on a domain - do your servers perform the DHCP functions?

If that's the case, your DHCP snap-in will be in the Administrative Tools, on the server with DHCP installed. From there, follow the instructions at this link to setup the reservation.
