I put the new Hard Drive in and guess what? everything booted up perfectly.lol, wooo hoooooooooooooooo I am very happy. My first system build and I thought I was a complete failure.

But....lol, I can't get online for whatever reason. I checked the jumpers, downloaded the drivers, setup wizard to get online, checked the cable modem and connections etc.. can't get online.lol my other computer gets online no problem but this I can't figure out. I am using the onboard LAN.

i DO HAVE AN ETHERNET card I can use but would like to stick with the onboard LAN.

Also for Steve.........thanks for all your help. I also wanted to note that under my BIOS temps, my cpu was at 37 celecius (think thats right) and system 1 was 47 temp and system 2 was 36.

I am not sure whats up with the temps because I loaded onto my com0uter the super utilities program and under that, my CPU is at 22 degrees and system 1 at 44 and system two at 34. Whick one do I go with and does everything seem alright?

What should I do about the internet? thanks for everyone's help on here, I really, really appreciate anyone who took the time to read my posts and help out. Thank you very much.

 

Hey congrats, good job. Glad to hear it was the hd afterall and nothing else. As far as the temps, what ever it says in your bios is what you should go by. Your internet, did you put the drivers for you onboard ethernet from the disc that came with your motherboard? When you go to the device manager is there any yellow exclamation marks? I am sure you will figure this out as the worst is over....I'm building one tomorrow if my mb,processor come. Got the case waiting for it. wish me luck LOL........

Well I have two actual BIOS temps to look at. On the MOBO disc itself it had super utilities download and thats where I get my actual fan voltage, speed and temps. Those are the lower temps. If I use the regular Bios, the temps are much higher. I guess I should enable the failsafe settings in case it gets hot huh?

Under device manager, I actually have two devices listed. One is realtek and the other is something else. Under properties, it says both are working properly. I am not sure which one is actually on the MOBO but I did install the drivers. I plug it into my other computer and it works great. Maybe I should re-install the drivers?

 

Got the board and cpu and up and running. Must be the easiest build ever for me. I have only built amd xp's and these amd 64's are nice. Got a gigabyte board and a 3000+ and using my old ddr 2100, really suprised how well it works. Only glitch I got is my cdrom is on the blink. I installed windows with it but it won't play a cd now. I also have a dvd burner and it is ok so maybe the cdrom is toast.....oh well..This thing is running cpu 25 to 30 case temp 25. I am using the stock heatsink and the thermal pad. I am suprised how cool this one runs...see ya on th boards SM

 

Other than the cd rom Steve, sounds like everything worked out great for you man, congrats. Guess what? I am typing to you on the computer I built. I finally got online.

All I did was reinsert the drivers and reset the cable modem. Its finally complete. Thank God.lol it was exhilirating and scary at the same time but its been great because I got to meet some people like yourself on here.
