    still have problems with 'google' and 'yahoo'. first i was getting redirected to another search engine that was a tool bar (helped itsself to our comp) then it said pg done after a search but it was blank... now its not letting me onto google after the R&R...just says IE not avail & add is no longer avail. I was then told that 'hijackthis' wasnt allowed access and I needed to edit/delete the files myself that they identified by running notepad C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc\hosts then i needed to save as "hosts" (w/quotes) & reboot. I AM LOST & please forgive this first-timer I am trying real hard!!!!! I searched other threads but SO FAR, I cant find one (or didnt go back far enough) with the same error msg.....

    Let's have you do this. First I want you to use windows explorer to find and then right click / properties / and tell me if it is signed:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\7F978F9417.sys

    Run this: Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

    Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

    Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Now copy just the bold text below to notepad (Do not include any space above the word REGEDIT). Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
    Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
    to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    Now use windows explorer to find and delete:
    C:\Documents and Settings\melissa\Local Settings\Application Data\123USA
    c:\program files\123USA\tb123U.dll
    C:\Program Files\123USA

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    i looked for the sign C:\WINDOWS\system32\7F978F9417.sys, but i dont think i found it. not sure if i looked in right place, but that wasn't what i'd seen. so far.....SUCCESS in fixME.reg.....deleted C:\Doc.... and the next two files u wanted me to delete weren't located. i think they r still there though. i put their info in run and it told me that it couldnt run since it didnt know where it came from and it could look online to find its source or i could select from the list. BUT i didnt run it or open that garbage, i just continued with MG. during final run computer got shut off on accident and i started back up and finished the scan, so far so good, i guess. my search engines are back and this beast moves a ton quicker!!! let me attach the logs and then i can get my laptop on here and hopefully i can help people like u all do!!!! thank u so much oh great wise one!!!
    :-D do i then go back to the R & R and finish the list to get all back on track?

    Please go to add/remove programs and uninstall:
    123USA Toolbar
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 3"
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6"
    Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
    Viewpoint Media Player

    You should have put them into search, not run! Lets do this:

    download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Extract+ avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    * Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    * -Do not change any check box options!!
    * Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:

    * Now click the Execute button.
    * Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    * Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    * Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    * A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.

    Now run Ccleaner to clean out only temp files and nothing else! Then go to this folder and make sure it is empty:
    C:\Documents and Settings\melissa\Local Settings\Temp\

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\Avenger.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

    Make sure you tell me how things are working now!
