still having audio issues!!

i am in need of further help....was getting help from a great guy today and installing my audio driver....prob being we erased our hard drive last week and had to reinstall all our drivers, everything worked except our sound....guy today gave me a place to install my driver and it shows it worked but under my system properties i still have yellow !!!! next to sound driver, i uninstalled it and reinstalled it and still no sound....is there anything else i can try or do i have to take my comp somewhere????

Can you go into Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager and double click on the yellow exclamation and let us know what error code you are getting?

 

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)..did start a thread, previous guy i spoke with was a good help, but still afterwards nothing was working...and he signed off so i thought i would try again....

 

Try this first (if you havent already!)

Reasons for this error include a driver that is not present; a binary file that is corrupted; a file I/O problem, or a driver that references an entry point in another binary file that could not be loaded.

Uninstall the driver, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall or upgrade the driver.

On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard.

if that doesnt work, let me know

Attached are two screen shots of my device manager and audio codecs.. is this how yours looks? (click on the picture to make it bigger) I dont know what your pc (make and model) is or what the OS is, so maybe you could tell us that?

OMG!! are u still there, nothing is fixed...sorry got alittle ahead of myself...i am missing i think is my uaa bus drive?? does that make any sense...that is what my comp says...i did uninstall the drive for audio and scanned and nothing happened and as for the 2nd step i am comp not so savvy and had no idea what u were talking about

 

Does your PC have a series of CDs that came with it? If it does there should be one labeled drivers or possibly one with an audio player like Sonic Stage.

 

honestly i did get an installer cd for all my drives and all my other drivers went in fine but my audio one just won't...if there is another specfic audio cd i have no idea where it is or even if i have it....when i installed all other drivers the audio one acts like it was installed fine but when i use it nothing happens??? is there a way around it or anything else i should do??

ok so i opened it and get a box with like open, add, test etc. what should i do at this point

 

Take a look at them and see if any say anyting about a juke box, music player, anything that sounds like audio. My wife's Dell has a driver CD plus one with a music player. (which is the one that contains her audio driver) Now I will butt out till dyamond, gets you fixed up.

Did you unzip the files? because when I did it all it asked was if i wanted to install the drivers.

If you dont know how to unzip... let me know ill tell ya how.

 

well i did download it but now i don't know what to do with this box that populated, i can open , add, test or extract....so many things that i know nothing about and when i hit download i was giving options to open, save or close so i opened and than get the above info that i mentioned...i am pretty sure i have no idea how to unzip!!!

 

your going to want to extract (it will unzip all the files).. then save it somewhere you can find later (like C:/My Documents or even to the desktop if thats easier).

Then when its done unzipping you should see a little square box and the words (kb888111 self extracting cabinet microsoft corporation).. double click it and it should run.

I am having the exact same issue. My error code is 28 saying the driver isn't installed. I went to driveragent.com and got the scan. It listed the red x next to the multimedia audio controller. So I clicked on it and it said it could not finish because the driver wasn't installed and said to reboot and retry. I did this and same thing. I then went to totally drivers and downloaded the .exe file there and installed. Still nothing. When I go to contol panel, it has the same yellow mark next to the audio controller. This is so frustrating as I have not formatted my disk. I simply unplugged everything and moved. Nothing else has changed. Amazing how one simple controller can disappear. HELP!
