    Hi,

This is my first time posting, so I apologize if I'm not doing this the correct way.

I have gone through the Windows XP Malware Removal/Cleaning Procedure and completed all scans. However, I am still having some problems. Whenever I restart my computer, it hides the quick launch icons. Even if I turn these quick launch icons on, whenever I click on them....nothing actually happens.

Also, if I try to launch a program by going through the Start button and then selecting it from my list of programs...nothing happens. It seems that the only way I can actually run any program is if I have a shortcut to the program on my desktop, I can right click the shortcut and select "open" and it will run. (I just realized this also works with the quick launch icons as well, I can right click them and select "open" but just left clicking them does not work.)

I don't know if this is significant, but one other thing that I noticed is that when I right-click a media file (such as an .mp4 or .avi) I no longer have the "Open with..." option. I can only select "open."

Thanks, in advance, for any assistance that you can provide.

You may neeed to post in the Software Forum for help. You do not appear to be having malware problems. The only question items are adware related like below. Did you knowingly install this stuff?

I thought I was downloading a program to find servers for Day Z, apparently I clicked on the wrong download link. Halfway through the install I realized my mistake and tried to abort but it was too late.

I've also noticed that I can not install any kind of programs now. If I try it says the Windows Installer Service can not be accessed.

Is this not something I can get help with here?

    No problem.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. You can uninstall RogueKiller and HitManPro.
    2. Go back to step 6 oof the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista or Win 7, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
