Hi, I'm new here and have reached my limits of computer diagnostics. I'm running XP with SP3 on a Dell 4600. My computer was working fine this morning. I printed things, surfed the web, checked e-mail, etc. Then I went into Excel and tried to print a spreadsheet. I received a message that no printer was installed. Strange...I had just printed things. Went to Control Panel and "Add Printer". Then system hung up, so I did ctrl-alt-del. I received the blue screen of death with, "STOP: c0000135 Unable to locate component. Application unable to start because Kernel32.dll not found. Try re-install the application" I can't get past this screen. I've run diagnostics, but I can't even get to a command prompt to try to re-install whatever application is making this happen. Basically I'm dead in the water with a huge paperweight on my desk. Finally my husband came home with his laptop, so I can begin searching online for answers!

If you have your xp disc, then try doing a repair installlation. Note, when you boot to your xp disc, press enter at the first screen, then press R for the repair. The first screen has a repair for recovery console, just ignore that.
