    Good morning,
I'm about to store some info on my dvd/cd drive. My question is how long does it stay stored, because my intentions are to reinstall windows; so I can run 2 sec drive, and transfer the info. will it stay sotred if I reinstall the windows?

YES the data will stay stored near as dammit permanently ( there are some questions over the life expectancy of cd/dvd materials as some coatings can breakdown leaving the disk unreadable, but your looking at 5~10yrs+ before that may occur )

just make sure that you store the disk in its case so as not to scratch the surfaces as scratches on the disk could stop you retreaving your data.

I overstand info being placed on dvd/cd,but the general question is pretaining to info being stored in the(if it has one) memory of the dvd/cd burner, After I unplug the computer to replace with another hhd to install wnxp.

The only thing stored in a cd drive is the firmware rom chip and that will hold its data when unplugged.

you will have to elaborate on what info your storing?
