Story 512

    Found a seemingly new browser hijack. It's from a site called Story512.com and was wondering if any of you have run into it.

    The page loads at random while navigating, and often when logging out of sites.

    Any addtional info?

    This looks to be new and it's randomly navigating to the site which appears to be out of NYC. It's reminiscent of Trovia, but it's not altering the home page, just out of the blue popping up in a tab.

    We have trimmed out all add ons, reset the browser, gone as far as removing Java, run mbam and Kaspersky full version is running on the machine.

    Will continue to dig deeper.

    Any suggestions for manual removal?

    I looked at the website, it just looks to be a collection of people's stories, fictional, horror, history etc. Hmm I have no suggestions on removal of what I don't know about. You would have to go through with the usual procedures.

    The suggestion is fine, but everything besides MGTools and Hitman have been run on this machine.

    I really think this is an undefined new hijack variant.

    Fine. I don't know what more you want me to say about it. :) (in the nicest possible way I meant that) I cannot tell you any more, or shine any more light onto it unless you attach ALL of the requested logs. That's my purpose, to analyse logs.

    Unfortunately, I can't give you any logs. The PC is being handled via work, not by me personally.

    At least I can give you a heads up about one you've not encountered yet...
