Strange happenings with msconfig

I noticed each time I booted, msconfig would open with a message box stating "You have changed startup configuration".

I deleted msconfig from "Run" in the registry and everything is fine (msconfig doesn't run at boot) until I again use msconfig to disable a startup program. After I disable a startup entry and click on OK, not only does msconfig again show up in "Run" in the registry, I don't get the usual message box stating "restart"-----"exit without restart", instead I get this message box as in the attachment. Any ideas?

Yeah ...you shouldn't have deleted it ...when you start up it is a reminder and there is alittle box saying don't how this again ...you should have checked that box ....

It was not a good idea to delete the MSConfig from the registry
Try System Restore to a point earlier where you didnt delete the registry key

MSConfig is not recommended to permanently prevent startup items from starting, it is meant for diagnostic purposes

Also, I cant see your error message gif
Try posting it in different format

I don't get the usual message box stating "exit" --- "exit after restart", I get a message box that states "You have changed startup configuration".

This happened before I deleted msconfig from "run". I don't get the message box with the check box to not show this again.

Just go to MSConfig, select Normal Startup, and manually reboot yourself, see if that fixes the problem.

I have been booting using selective startup for over 2 years because I changed my boot.ini to reflect a choice to be able to go into safe mode without having to tap F8 or whatever key it was. Never had this problem until recently.

Uninstalled Advanced Windows Care --- problem solved. Back to normal workings of msconfig!!!
    Thanks all for the replies.
