I have been having issues video talking. The last 2 times me and a friend tried talking...his voice kept cutting in and out. I can play anything else through my speakers and it is fine. I can plug in a mic into my computer and my voice will be fine. It doesn't make sense that my mic would have anything to do with it sense he hears me fine and the problem is that I can't hear him right. My speakers are working....not sure what could do this. I have a logitech pro9000 and the video works fine and when i do a sound test it is fine. We have video talked before without issues. I have soundblaster 5.1.
I did notice in my settings today that the speakers in my control panel were set to headphones so I changed that to 5.1. Would that explain my friend's voice cutiing in and out? I still wouldn't understand how that could be it when my music played fine as far as i could tell. The problem isn't on his end because he has been able to video/chat with other people perfectly fine.
Any ideas on what this could be????
    Thanks,
    Cathy

Kat2wolf. The thing about talking over the internet, is you are at the mercy of the internet connection. Case in point. I am sure you have watched YouTube videos. 9 times out of 10 they work just fine but sometimes when your ISP's bandwidth is really being used, you may have pauses or freezes. There is obviously nothing wrong with your sound if EVERYTHING else is working just fine. Might need to try an experiment. Try video chatting with him on different parts of the day. Late at night, early in the morning, middle of day. On peak and Off peak times. See if that makes a difference. Also, try video chatting with other friends and see if you have the same issue.

    Good Luck. :)

Your an idiot and your parents should be embarrassed from your birth (did they drop you on your head?) if that is the sort of "diatribe" you will bring to a social PC help forum.

I agree with ichase it may be a "specific ISP to ISP instant" you have experienced and should be tested further. Check your Device Manager and MS updates to ensure the software is current.
