I've got an unused set of computer speakers that I'd like to plug into my tablet, but they have two 1/8 inch jacks instead of 1. They both come out of the same cord & then split- one green, one black. This is a set with a subwoofer. Anyway to hook this up to my tablet? Tried both jacks separately, but could barely hear anything from speakers. Thanks.

Would something like this work? Search for Sabrent USB-SBCV USB 2.0 External 2.1 Surround Sound Adapter

Scratch that . . . the inputs on that are not what I thought. I'm at a loss for now. What is the brand of speaker you are dealing with? Sounds like a 2.1 set up.

They are harmon/cardon, but I just plugged them into the laptop & could hardly hear them with youtube turned all they way up so now I'm thinking there's something wrong w/ these speakers, but they were OK last time I used them on teh lap top. Bummer

The green plug is the one to plug into the tablet/PC/MP3-player; but, with a subwoofer, you will always have another wire to plug into it AND a power adapter that needs to be plugged into the wall. Also, which one of them has the volume control for the speakers?

There are 3 buttons on top of the speakers- treb, bass & surround. The speakers ahve no controls. I did use teh green plug, & yes it was plugged in. When I had it plugged into teh tablet I could only hear it if I put my ear right next to the speaker. With the laptop it was slightly louder, but not nearly what I remember it was when I had to use that because our motherboard on teh PC died. Is it possible that the amplfier (is there one??) inside the subwoofer si damaged?
