My office pc was infected by a virus/trojan which spyware doctor identified as trojan.agent.sd and panda online scanner as cizum.
Its suppose to be a virus from china and I can't get any info about it since all the sites that refer to it are in chinese.
This virus has made it impossible to boot from cd or floppy since the only option in boot menu is hard drive. I somehow managed to format my drive d and from there I was ablr to format E and F drive. Then I installed a fresh windows XP on drive D and ran spyware doctor, then Panda online scanner and then kaspersky 6. Although my pc now appears to be clean there are two problems I am still facing.

    1. I cannot boot from cd or floppy
    2. I cannot format my C drive because everytime I do it by right clicking on it and selecting format I get this msg that some other process is using this drive.

Can anyone pls help me on this???Is there any way I can boot from cd??what kind of virus is this that has removed other boot options from the boot menu??
Any help will be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

When you PC starts up go into your BIOS and change the boot sequence so that the CD ROM is before the hard disk in the boot sequence. Then put your CD into the CD drive and then save the changes to the BIOS and exit. You should eventually see a message that says something like hit anykey to boot from the CD. Just hit anykey to allow it to boot.
