    Guys,

I'm having strange problems with my NETGEAR WGR614. Its been working fine for months now, a year plus even.

I have 2 laptops and a PC that I connect to it.

Security Encryption (WPA-PSK) is enabled and so is MAC address filtering. Anyway, I don't its access to the wireless network thats the issue, they all get on the network fine. Its internet access thats the issue

One laptop has internet access just fine, and I can get onto the router admin.

The other laptop and the PC are not working. Well, I can get onto the wireless network, but have no NET access, if I release and renew IP address I get "limited or no connectivity". NOTHING has changed on the machines at all that I know of.

If I try to connect MSN Messenger and troubleshoot its failing on Keyports.

Once strange thing I did notice on my router was the port triggering config, see attached, I have NEVER set this up ???

So, why would 2 machines not be connecting to the internet and this one be fine. Hmmm.

Well if you never set up those port triggers then someone else must have, so I would take it all off and set up a password for accessing your router. As for your connectivity problems, check on the status of your computers in the router control panel. Generally routers will show all the computers that are connected to it and give details on their ip addresses and such.

I've taken the port triggers off.

If I look into the router - attached devices, I see all 3 no problem, with their related IP addresses. Like I said, they all get onto the wireless network fine, just 2 of them can't see the internet, nor can I get to 192.168.1.1. I can ping it, but just cant get into the admin screens.

Have you tried resetting your router...sometimes you just have to "blow it's nose"...so to speak. Which can lots of times be fixed by updating the firmware on the router.

Do you understand any of that or do you need some more direction? Just let us know.

By the way...just for the sake of troubleshooting...are both laptops using wireless and the desktop wired...or how is it?

    All 3 machines are wireless.
I have tried hard rebooting the router.

I haven't yet tried checking and upgrading the firmware. I didn't want to go down that road as 1 of 3 machines is working just fine !

For info - Even if I wire in the laptop that isnt working, it still doesnt get net access. So this is pointing to machine config issues rather than router for me?

Is the WAN/Internet light on, on the router?

Did both non-working machines become defunct at the same time?

Was there something you did on the computer/s (install a new app or change firewall settings) right before they stopped working?

Have you tried disabling the firewall on the machines to see if that works?

When you did a "hard" reset...are you sure you held it in for long enough (usually about 10 seconds)...if so, it should take EVERYTHING back to factory default...including admin login and all settings.

As far as upgrading the firmware...It probably wouldn't hurt being that the router is at least a year or so old. Plus the time it sat on the warehouse/store shelf. A lot can happen in that time!!
