stream DL

what are the recommended apps these days for extracting a video from youtube, hulu, etc., and what is the status of these sites trying to block it?

don't watch much TV, but with the start of several new shows i had a few mapped out for this week. when stoopid construction guy up and CUTS THRU the cable!!

be a day or two before they fix this. in the meantime can i actually find and DL already-run shows from ABC, NBC, FOX, etc. and watch them on my PC?

dialup way too slow to watch online. but if i can DL ahead of time, 50M, 100M etc file no big deal. so i need one of those "apps".

had a few on my old PC, but always problematic. so i figured i'd start fresh, asking what's BEST out there.
