   im trying to install directx and its saying i dont have streaming smid extentions support. is there any way to get this or should i reinstall windows?

   What CPU do you have as well as what Windows version your using?
   
   SSEs are instruction sets supported via the CPU, so also check that you have installed your Chipset driver for motherboard, but this SMID is CPU hardware based, so cheipset should not really change this, but may possibly allow your intruction set to be picked up.
