strip sound from .avi to .mp3?

    I want to extract just the sound from an .avi file, discarding the video, preferably on an .mp3 file. Is there an easy way to do this, with (preferably free) software that doesn't require a computer science degree to understand?

    AoA Audio Extractor will do the trick and can be found here at Major Geeks in the Multimedia downloads section. The program is freeware has the ability to save any portion of the audio of a .avi video file.

    You can easily extract audio tracks from AVI, MPEG, MPG, FLV (Flash Video), DAT, WMV, MOV, MP4, 3GP video files and save them as MP3, WAV and AC3 formats.
