First I noticed autoplay popping up over and over. Ran some scans (avg, spybot, norton, spydoctor) found vundo. I think that's gone but I still have the flashing hourglass. I have scanned with all the recommended programs, did the cleaning up as directed, did more research on my own and still have it. I finally have given up and come to you oh majorgeeks for help.
Ok I can't quite figure out the avg log. I don't see anything obvious and all test results say 0 threats found.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

The below is a direct quote from step 1 of the READ ME which you did not do
You need to do this now, then reboot.

After reboot uninstall Viewpoint Media Player as also requested in step 1 of the READ ME.

Then run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created

OH well crud. That's what I get for multitasking. I HAD made sure it was in normal mode but then got sidetracked and I recall going in and trying to figure out how to turn some programs off so they wouldn't run at start up not realizing that would take it out of normal start up mode. However, I am guilty for missing the view player uninstall.

Now at the risk of sounding even more stupid I can't find the getlogs.bat. I even did a search for it.

Oh my freaking gosh. All those hours, all that cussing and downloading and scanning and racking my brain and googling......

I even pulled out my mouse to see if it was that because someone said that they had problems with an hour glass and it was their mouse connection. Well I one upped that person. My stinking camera's memory stick. I just pulled it out when I realized it wasn't in my camera...and the hourglass was gone. I put it back in and was able to get the hourglass going again if the card wasn'tpushed all the way in. Sigh. I am SO SORRY for wasting your time (not to mention my own). Thank you for starting to help me.

I'm happy to hear you got your problem resolved.

You should do the below to cleanup what was done and to protect PC.

    1. If we used ComboFix then UNINSTALL COMBOFIX (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN
      • Now type combofix /u in the runbox and click OK.
      • Note: The space between the X and the /U, it must be there.
    2. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    3. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    4. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
