Internet Explorer is stuck on the address below. I can access internet with chrome or firefox, but I need internet explorer for work. I went to the library and didn't have the same issue with Internet Explorer, which leads me to believe this is related to cox's internet service. This happened on two computers after I tried to access work VPN from home. I've been able to do this before and I was able to do it from the library following this problem. I have a residential account with Cox if that matters; I'm spending a butt load on fastest internet, this is frustrating. Wife is pregnant and due soon so I really need to work from home.

If your internet works with chrome or firefox its not a cox issue. I would trouble shoot the vpn issue before saying its cox.

Different ISP (perhaps the library does not use Cox), different IP. When you go to a different location, your OP is different. My computers at home use the IP assigned to me by Comcast. When I go to a hotspot, I'm assigned a different IP by the router used at the hotspot.

Different isp, different routers your traffic passes through.

Are you sure that you are not hitting their Walled Garden? Try rebooting the modem & do a Reset on the router that you have, before rebooting it. Also, what "Internet Security" software are you using on this computer, along with Operating System.

I've reset the modem & router. I use Avira. I run Windows 7. When I changed the DNS address, IE works. I've since learned that Cox outlaws VPN access on residential service, so I'm assuming they've blocked access because of spike in usage - didn't know VPN used so many resources. I regularly stream via Netflix and Hulu.
