Hi for the last few days I have been having this problem with shutting down my computer. It just gets stuck on the blue "windows is shutting down" screen.

I haven't changed any settings, have no viruses (ran malware and superanti virus and nothing appeared) so I am stumped.

    Can someone please help?

No that is not what is happening. It only happens on and off which is weird. It doesn't restart it just stays frozen on that "shutting down" screen until I force shut it down.

    Hi Tami19,

The problem reads like a service, program or hardware driver (sound, video etc...) is not shutting down properly thus windows hangs at the screen.

You can try isolating the problem by going to start/run type in msconfig, click ok.

click the services tab, add a check to hide all microsoft services and then click the disable all button.

next, click the startup tab and then click the disable all button. close out.

    reboot.

attempt the shutdown process. if all goes well, then the problem is one of the services/programs listed in msconfig.
