students needed! - would be great if you could help with this

    Hi guys im a student at uni and need this survey filled in, im trying to get about 200+ students to fill it in for me for my research.

    If you think anything needs to be changed on the survey all ciritism will be taken on board.

    Hi and Welcome Megan

    We do fill in surveys that pop out of the blue, but we also like some idea what the data is going to be used for is it just this question on documents or is it a wider topic and for what University? you a computing student?

    And will you update us on the findings?


    Dont know if you will find many students here, there are some, but most of us would be classed as mature students of life and technology, me I'm 44 and in research, but good questions, I have not filled it in as I'm not a student, although I'm continually learning.

    I would if possible allow users to on question 4 and if they tick "other" to put in the method they use as "Cloud" storage is now much more used these days, I know I use Skydrive to store docs as a backup and as ease of access from anywhere with an internet connection.

    I wish you well with your research on this.

    Have seen some where we were asked to answer some questions.
    Looked almost like a test they were trying to get the answers to for class without doing the work.rolleyes

    Looks legit to me hrlow, and questions are more like data collection to give an overall picture of what methods folk use and if they didnt did they loose data, 200+ users answering is a good statistical mean.

    But me and you are out of the running..... age has us both ruled out :(

    I realize it looked legit.
    Just letting the other know about some angles that people try.
    Usually doesn't work, especially when you can tell from their spelling while typing that they are pretty young.
    And I have you shaded by 15-16 years.

    Hi thanks for you responses im currently at Leeds unversity, its not for the actualy course im doing but an idea that me and a couple of other students have come up with, and we are currently looking into the market research, to see if the idea will take off or not.

    Its totally legit and just a simple survey that needs to be filled out of market research

    Cheers for the update and info, pity its age capped in a way as many here at Majorgeeks including myself and hrlow are interested in this area, backups, data recovery and security of documents etc

    Fantastic on the box for Other, never know always someone with a novel new way as at this very moment I'm playing with a NAS drive and setup a Home Server the other day out of an older PC.

    Are you thinking of a new backup soluton, dont tell us if its secret project but if you are what is needed is a solution to be very very simple if you are to capture the novice PC user, they will want as least involvement as possible with any backup process, be it local or online.

    Quite alot of solutions out there so do if not already review and try most of them, and good luck with your markey research.

    I'd just like to add something about market research, if your thinking of a small business or school project business ect. your research needs to be done on your target consumers for example if you asked a UK student how much they would pay per month to keep their data safe,due to the amount of disposable income our students have it may be worth more to them than a country with a lower GDP where students would have struggled to buy just one memory stick,just as if you asked a load of students in Beverly Hills how much its worth to keep their data safe it would be worth a lot more to them and hence the results of the survey would be totally different.
