I just recently reinstalled windows xp on my computer and have run into a bit of a problem. I cannot access the internet. There are no icons in network connections, I tried setting up a connection through network connections, still no icons? I looked in my device manager and could not see a section for network adapters. Please help if possible, I need moar internets

You probably need to install the drivers for your network adapter. What type of adapter do you have, onboard wired, onboard wireless, or USB wireless?

Did you install from your recovery disk or partition or from a Windows installation disk? If a recovery disk/partition it should have provided the drivers automatically, though a Windows installation disk would usually find and install a driver too. Might it be a recovery disk from a different machine?

What is the model number of the emachines. Not having a network adapter after OS install may mean that the network adapter is part of a chipset driver.

It is part of the chipset. Download the LAN driver here. Notice that the chipset, LAN and Video driver all have the same size. Just different version numbers.

    LAN Driver NVIDIA 67.7.6.1 122.7 MB\

Edit: Downloading the LAN driver will also download the Chipset and Video drivers.

Yes, Just download and save to the USB flash drive. I would then copy the file from the USB flash drive to an admin account of the emachines though. I would not run and install the driver from the USB flash drive.
