stupid driver for ATI

I have the current system:

XP PRO SERVICE PACK 2 (FRESH INSTALL)
INTEL CORE 2 DUO E6750
GIGABYTE P35-DS3L REV A2
AWARE BIOS V.F9B
2 STICKS OF 2GIG OCZ REAPER 800MHZ MEM
2 SEAGATE 500GIG DRIVES
1 SATA SONY DVD BURNER
500W CORSAIR PSU
GECUBE X1950 VID CARD

I recently upgraded to the latest drivers, and for some reason all I could see is a black screen, also the green light on my monitor, went from green to orange showing no signal coming in from the computer tower.

I had to go into the safe mode, uninstall the software, and there is an option to just take out the drivers or the drivers and chipset information. I did the latter. Now no matter which version of the older software I use, I cannot for the life of me, get my monitor to see anything past the xp start up screen and then it all goes blank. The only way I can see anything, is to go into the hardware area in the control options, and delete manualy the display drivers which are the x1950 single monitor and secondary monitor, and also the software associated with this.

My question is what is going on? Did the ATI Catalyst software delete somehow from my motherboard the drives needed to run my ati card? I'm at a loss here folks...its why im here.

I've reinstall the system 3 times....still not a go,......grrr....

I've tried using ATI's drivers only software, then only the catalyst, and then both of these, to the same effect of a black screen after the xp splash screen.

I'm starting to have WOW withdrawls..... Been 3 days since this all began...

Hi spaztic,

Have you tried reinstalling your dotnet framework yet. Many Catalyst cards and software require Microsoft DotNet framework to be installed first. This might be on your installation CD for your video card.

 

actualy catalyst will not install unless framework is in the system first.....so yes i've tried this as well....

I'm starting to think im going to have to toss this mobo, and buya new one...arggghh...
