Hilarious! It always amazes me when I see the level of willful ignorance some people display when it come to computers.

A great example (and one of many I have experienced in my work life):

I work in a Molecular Biology lab as a biochemist, but because of my relative young age compared to my coworkers and my modest knowledge of computers, I am the defacto "computer guy" for the Product Development department in which I work (the lab was begun within the last year). The company hired an outside company to set up a network to link our three locations and set up each computer to access the shared files on the network. I know the engineer from the company that was setting up the network, so he emailed me the DNS, IPs and PWs to set up the access to the computers at my location. When the comps had been set up, I noticed some time later that every machine at our location had root access to the server and uncontrolled access to every computer on the network. I emailed our "IT director" (who has the title only because he works in the HR department and has administrative access from the home office, not because of any computer knowledge) to let him know of the problem. He came by the next week to "remap the network drives" at our location. When I looked at my computer later (and then the other computers at the location), he had just changed the shortcut on my comp from the root directory to my personal directory and done the same on each computer in the lab, respectively. All machines here still had root access, but because the shortcuts had been changed on the desktop of each machine, he felt that the problem had been fixed. Multiple phone conversations with him couldn't convince him of the difference, so I gave up.

Thanks for the help IT guru.
