sudden change in boot times

    Hello,

I have suddenly had an issue where my computer is taking a long time to start. It is actually taking a couple of minutes for the bios screen to appear and then taking a while between the windows icon and the windows login screen. I am going through the steps to check my hardware and such, but I decided to run the malware removal apps to see if there was anything nasty in the boot drive MBR or something like that.

It looks like RougeKiller found a few things. Some of what is there is fine, but I don't know enough about it to say for sure. I have attached the logs, so if someone could have a look and let me know if there is anything there that needs to be addressed I would appreciate that.

The system is XP 32-bit in case anyone wants to know.

Sorry but you are not having malware problems. Your logs are clean. You need to look elsewhere. Perhaps the sheer number of drives you have connected
    Code:
    Drive C: Size 48.83 GB (52,428,795,904 bytes)
    Drive D: Size 19.53 GB (20,966,203,392 bytes)
    Drive E: Size 48.77 GB (52,370,321,408 bytes)
    Drive F: Size 1.58 TB (1,738,289,545,216 bytes)
    Drive G: Size 195.33 GB (209,736,413,184 bytes)
    Drive H: Size 119.24 GB (128,033,222,656 bytes)
    Drive I: Size 1.80 TB (1,979,430,080,512 bytes)
And also I question the below seen in your log
    Code:
    Total Physical Memory 16,384.00 MB
    Available Physical Memory 3.00 GB
Windows XP cannot support this much memory.

Telling me I have no malware is nothing to be sorry about. :)

Thanks anyway for taking a look. I actually only have 4 drives, but there are allot of partitions. This setup was working very well, and then suddenly I started having the long boot times. I don't know if it's the right mindset, but whenever I have a sudden change in anything, I get a bit suspicious.

As for the memory, this is normally a dual boot box. I also run out of Ubuntu x64 with several virtual machines (thus the 16GB RAM). I have lost patience with Ubuntu and am test driving replacements like Mint and Arch. I deleted my Ubuntu install and haven't replaced it yet. I also recently deleted the linux partitions on the OS SSD in case that was causing some of my slow boot issues. I don't remember if that was before or after I made the log.

If you have a minute for another question, I am running Comodo IS Pro and have been very happy with it. I didn't upgrade to version 6 with its pointless UI, but otherwise I have had no issues. I also have a pay Super AntiSpyware license that I am currently not using. Comodo has AV that is set to Stateful. Is it ok to also install and run SAS in protect mode? I know that your advice page says to only run one active scanner, but Comodo ISP is AV and SAS handles spyware, etc.

    Thanks again,

    LMHmedchem

    You're welcome.
CIS is a full security suite. That means it is an AV, AS, and firewall. May not be a good idea to use SAS at the same time. Could cause conflicts or could cause slow downs especially at startup. I have seen SAS impact startup times too.
