Suggestion #12 or something

Members that just sign up (e.g have not made a post yet), cannot put links into their posts. This goes away when they make 1 post, or w/e maybe like three posts or something. I've noticed that a lot of new members don't post links unless its spam. So perhaps this could help cut down some of this????

Didn't they used to have a suggestion forum here? I got to looking and there's not one anymore. Maybe I was thinking of a different forum. Haven't been here in a while... heh.

 

eh, i've had about 10 suggestions. I just put them in the lounge.

 

they did, but some poeple just ask for unreasonable or stupid crap. I like that idea, the href blocking for new members.

For example, at a forum site, u can't play the arcade games there unless u have made 1 post in the last 24 hours.

so some just post well... crap.

 

Well most members don't sign up to post garbage just so they can post a link.

 

spammers are ethically challenged idiots. i can see the block on the link posting. which takes some time for the code writing and such. the site i tech for has a committee that stuff has to pass before it gets done. the best advice i ever got was "wash rinse repeat". remove the post, ban the spammer and keep an open eye. we move the offender to read only status to block the active email addy and makes them use another name. we've done some ip blocking but, now our favorite idiot has a proxy server. we have a web wiz forum.
actually, if any of you are proficient in web wiz and such.. all my senior techs have resigned and here i am junior tech with slim knowledge (just enough to crash the damn thing or bollocks it up good). if shit happens can i come and cry on your sholder? (no, i'm not recuiting techies, it has to do with my siggie) if you don't understand... well, let's say i'm glad you don't.
