I reluctantly followed the steps. Let me back up. About a year ago I was infected with a nasty bugger hijacking my IE settings. It would default to the start page Supersearchs.com.(Do not go there!!!!) Now I am no guru but I am also no novice with computers. I design websites and have managed to clean quite a few nasty things off friends and family computers.

I tryed everything on mine to get rid of this malware. For 6 months I tryed. I had finally resigned myself to using Foxfire exclusively till ad-aware, spybot, or hi-jackthis update the deffinitions I needed to get rid of it. I tryed manually removing it, editing registry entries only to have them change right back.

During this time Supersearchs changed several times. At first I could find dll files on my PC I could open in notepad and view HTML source. I did a DoD 7 pass low level wipe on these but they would pop up again in different places with random names. Of course changes made in IE were changed back. Last night, supersearchs re-directed to a porn only site with images and everything. I decided to give it a go again as I have a 4 year old and a wife. This would just not do. Befor it was a searchengin look alike I figured they used to make money from sites who paid to be in it.

I searched google for supersearchs.com and found a post in here. I read it and followed your ad vise to skippygsf. It did not help, but offered a few things I have not tryed.. I back out to the main page of this forum and found this

It has been hours, Several re-boots, but for the first time in over a year I can now change my IE start page. Hijack this shows no signs of supersearchs.com.

chaslang if I was a woman I would have your babies. Thankyou sooooo much. I doubted you at first, but you damn sure have my total respect now. Sir I tip my hat to you.

 

I am pretty sure. I have given it some tests and all seems good. It will probably take a few days to be 100%. I still cringe when I open IE.


To anyone with Supersearchs.com my advice to you is follow the advice is the links I posted. It worked for me. I have seen several variants of this. For the longest I thought it was CWS CoolWebSearch. But it is not.

 

I did install hijack this per the instructions. I must confess I never had before. But sure I'll post a log tonight sometime.
