surfmonkey/smproxy.exe error Anyone heard of this?

    I am getting the following error:

    " Microsoft
    Visual C++ Runtime Library Error
    Runtime error
    Program c:\windows\surfmonkey\smproxy.exe application has requested the runtime error"

    The rocket scientists at Symantec tech support did a hard removal of my Norton Internet Security Software and Earthlink total access. I now cannot- initiate IE6.0 and keep getting this error.

    Any ideas or fixes?

    Download SymNRT, save to your desktop. Double click to run the program, follow the on screen insructions then REBOOT!

    Download RnisUPG, save to your desktop. Double click to run the program. After it's complete reboot, see if problem remains.
