My sister is having surgery tomorrow to remove a kidney stone. She is scared to death, me and Kimmy have been talking to her all day trying to ease her mind. Have to be at the hospital about noon. Hope it turns out ok.

    Wish us luck. :)

I'm guessing the Seinfeld episode where Kramer has a kidney stone wouldn't cheer her up? =]

I'm sure everything will go just fine.

Thank's guy's. They must be awful, she is not a complainer and we had to take her to the ER twice last Sunday.

    I remember that episode. :)

I thought they just blasted those suckers with ultrasound waves to break them up?

    Sure beats passing one.

    Best wishes to 'er:)

Good luck and speedy recovery to your sister. She's already lucky to have a great brother that cares. Do not look at ASUS's pictures.

I feel for your sister. But she will be in very good hands and through the hardest part in no time. My prayers are with her and also you and Kimmy as you support her through this surgery :)

    Good luck!

I'm sure it will go well.

These days, it's a VERY simple and quick procedure.

    Hey everyone,

I sure do appreciate all the kind words, that is very thoughtful of you guy's. I started not to post anything at first but I am glad I did now, it really makes a difference, getting some support and feedback from everyone was nice.

The patient (Debbie) is doing good. Real sore, they insert a balloon type thing in there for some reason and told her it would make her sore for a couple of days. Between this surgery and the two trips to the ER we have enough pain pills to kill an elephant....... or make him feel real good. I asked the doctor why they didn't just "blast it" and he said it depends on where it is located and a few other things.

So, thank's again to everyone. I see that Insomniac took care of one of my posts, looks like the correct solution. Thank's for the help mate, I owe you one. ;)

Better go, gotta pick up some Sprite for the patient. :)

    Thank's again,

    Steve

Glad to hear all went well and she is doing ok. She will be sore for a while, but I bet it's not as bad as the pain she had before the surgery.

    Take care

Glad to hear she's doing well.

It must be a huge relief, for her especially.

Kidney stones are excruciating. I've never had one, but I've seen people literally collapse from the agony!

They must be bad, she has been thru it for sure the last week. They give you the pain pills and more less tell you that if you take one and your still hurting, take another one. It's hard to believe something that small (I saw it) can do that.

Also supposed to be very common in this area, something in the water maybe.

I think it's caused by minerals and salt crystallising from your urine, and may be linked to diet.

Some people are more genetically predisposed than others.

If they don't pass through, they stay in the kidney, where they can grow or build up.

If a large one dislodges and tries to pass through, that's when they really hurt.

While in the kidney they are painless, it's travelling through your urethra that hurts.

I've been told it's like trying to urinate a razor blade or thorn. OUCH!
