So, I'm making a survey for a school project with title: "The history of video-gaming". I have put together some questions in order to compare the gaming attitude of Greek gamers to the rest of the world and I would be soooooo grateful if you guys could visit the following link and give me a hand.

thanks, thanks guys. I didn't expect FPS games to get so much credit in question #5. I was sure that RPGs were on top.

I filled out the survey, there were several questions I didn't know the answers to. You missed a major point though, I was a lot more into games when I was younger, but I started as soon as personal computers came out, my first machine was a TRS80 Model I with 4K RAM and Tiny BASIC as an OS. I started this just over 30 years ago, which means I've changed a lot over the years.

When I finally got a a C64 I was in heaven, at the time it was the ultimate game machine, and a fine programming computer besides. Once I had floppies I never missed using cassette tape drives a bit. The TRS80s were terrible about reliability issues, even with a save 3 times policy I still lost code and had to retype it from hardcopies.

Completed, can't believe I've missed it!

Surprised you didn't make a comparison between what ages people play at, or gender. Maybe I think that is interesting because I get such confused looks from people when I tell them I'm a 39 year old gaming chick... Lol.

Didn't know who the Williams couple were so took and educated guess.

FPS are the ultimate game as far as I'm concerned they are the closest we have to virtual reality and the closest we can get to escaping to another world.

Obviously ATM they are pretty dumbed down compared to RPG's or RTS at the moment and most basically consist of moving your mouse cursor round clicking targets but its slowly changing and the gamer is being allowed to interact manipulate more and more of the environment.

I think most of the great games of the future will be played from the first person perspective,I can't see controlling an animated character as a big part of the realistic immersive games of the future,I think virtual reality head sets are gonna take off in a major way in the near future also, yeah I know we've been hearing that since lawnmower man.:D

I sure hope you are wrong about the 1st person perspective! I hate playing FP, I tend to fall off ledges and ending up dead in a ditch when I can't see my feet. And I want to SEE the character I'm playing. Maybe starting heavily playing TR and looking at the cute Lara made me prefer 3rd person. I'm actually hoping there will be an increase in 3rd person, as there have been quite a few games that I've tried to play, and would have loved, if I could just get used to controls and view aspect... NOLF being one of them, what a great concept, but...

    Interesting points!

I'm not a fan of the shooters myself, but I've been interested to see a game for the Wii Console where the remotes act like your hands, along the lines of the Boxing game, but with the option to grab onto things with the trigger buttons. I think that would make for an interesting dynamic.

Done. Had to guess a little with the people, but otherwise.... dang that brought back some memories.... RPG-wise... any one remember the original "Leisure Suit Larry"?? I started with that and MechWarrior and SPear of Destiny (My introduction to cheat codes there)

heheh.. nice stroll down memory lane.... and I remember when Arcades were a quarter a game.. LOL
