    Hi Guys.

This is the first time Ive posted here so my apologies in advance if Ive made any mistakes with my post. I have however tried to follow as best I can the instructions contained in the "READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide".

I am running a pc with WinXp pro (no service pack installed). UnfortuateIy, my pc got infected before I had a chance to install the SP2 (I will install SP2 once I get my system to a "clean" state) I was originally running Grisoft's freeware AVG anti-virus software but for the purposes of this posting I have temporarily uninstalled it (and will reinstall immediately after this posting).

I am not running any firewalls besides the standard WinXp one (Yes, I know its crap!!!!). However, as a result of following the instructions from the "READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide", I do have some active protection from CounterSpy and SypbotS&D.

At this stage, I dont wont to give you all the history about my pc's symptoms (suspected infections) as I dont want to post any redundant information. All I will do is supply a link of a web page that seems to pretty much cover all of the symptoms my pc was having. Web page is http://keztudio.exteen.com/category-Virus/page-5 . I say "was" because some of the symptoms were resolved when someone sent me a file called "Monaliza_killer". You will notice that this file appears in the Bit Defender log.

There is not much info on the net about this "Monalisa" or "Moalisa" virus. It may be because it seems it was initially intended to target the south-east asian area...more specifically Thailand. I am in Australia and started gettting the problems after I chatted to my g/freind on MSN Messenger. I think I clicked on a link accidently.

Anyway, as I said, Ill keep the history to a mimimum at this stage. I would prefer to let the log files do the talking and Ill leave it up to the experts!!! Of course, Ill be happy to provide more info about my pc's symptoms as it is requested.

Please note that this log is in two parts - so that all the log files could be attached. This first post has the CounterSpy and Bit Defender log files (please note that both scans were done in safe mode).

I have not attached a Panda log file as the scan didnt find and malware. The exact message was "No viruses or other malicious software have been found!" Accoding to their website, a report is only available if a suspicious file is found.

The second part of this post contains the log files for GetRunKey, ShowNew and Hijack This. Please note that I had to create a new user a/c called "Administrator1" in order to run the batch files. This is because cmd.exe does not run under the primary user account ("Marky") in normal mode. Cmd.exe will run for "Administrator" in safe mode but is states that the profile/user is infected at the top of the cmd prompt window.

One final note, according to Spybot (safe mode scan), my system is now clean but it did initailly find a "Smitfraud - C" which comprised of two registry entries and a rpcc.dll file. I had to delete the dll file manually but.

I hope you guys can help.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Don't download and use cracks!! Besides being illegal, you will typically get malware along with your download. If you cannot legally upgrade your outdated Windows XP original version, then purchase a valid license.

You should not have uninstalled your antivirus! There is no reason to do that and it is also not safe for your PC to run without one. Reinstall it ASAP.
    • Click on Start, then Run ... type services.msc into the box that opens up, and press 'OK'.
    • On the page that opens, scroll down to Network helper Service
    • then right click the entry, select Properties and press Stop Service.
    • When it shows that it is stopped, next please set the Start-up Type to 'Disabled'.
    • Click OK until you get back to Windows.
    • Next, run HJT, but instead of scanning, click on the None of the above, just start the program button at the bottom of the choices.
    • At the lower right, click on the Config button
    • Then click the Misc tools button
    • Select Delete an NT Service
    • Copy/pasteMSDisk into the box that opens, and press OK
    • If you receive any error messages just ignore them and continue.
    • Now exit HJT but do not reboot when it tells you it needs to. We will do that further down after running HJT again to fix some other items.
Continue by downloading a tool we will need - Pocket KillBox

Save it to its own folder somewhere that you will be able to locate it later.

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = \blank.htm
    O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
    O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\WINDOWS\System32\svch3q.dll
O23 - Service: Network helper Service (MSDisk) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\irdvxc.exe" /service (file missing)

NOTE: HJT will popup an error about the AppInit_DLLs line. Ignore it and click OK to continue.

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Now run Pocket Killbox by doubleclicking on killbox.exe
    • select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    • Choose Tools > Delete Temp Files and click Delete Selected Temp Files.
    • Then after it deletes the files click the Exit (Save Settings) button.
NOTE: Pocket Killbox will only list the added files it is able to find on the system. So when you do the below, if some files do not show in the list after pasting them in, just continue.

    Select:
    • Delete on Reboot
    • then Click on the All Files button.
    • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    C:\Microsoft_Windows_XP_Service_Pack_2_by_Unknown_(WWW[1].CRACK-CD.COM).zip
    C:\XPProCorp-keyChanger
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\irdvxc.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\svch3q.dll
    • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
    • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt.
If you receive a PendingFileRenameOperations prompt, just click OK to continue (But please let me know if you receive this message!).

If Killbox does not reboot just reboot your PC yourself.

After reboot locate the below folder and delete if found:
    C:\xp crack
    C:\Xp generators

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. GetRunKey
    2. ShowNew
    3. HJT

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Well thanks for the reply. Ill do what you ask and then re-post.

Although, I would like to point out that my pc problems existed well b4 i downloaded those WinXP key downloader programs. Actually, I only used them last week to upgrade my brothers system to WinXP SP2 (because he lost his original key). These progams werent at all used to install my version of WinXp (although having said that, Im pretty sure Im using an unlicensed key). Maybe you could explain whats the big problem with having those crack programs there even when im not using them for my own system.

And regarding the anti-virus, its already back up and running. I only had it down when I was running my pc in safe mode during all the scans.

    Thanks

    Mark

Did you notice that they were detected by the scanners as being infected?

That was not necessary and is still dangerous.
