Is it normal to have 4 svchost.exe processes? I thought it seemed suspicious a while ago and when I looked into it I found that svchost.exe was a legitimate service. But today I found a site that said many worms/trojans/viruses disguise themselves by that name. I have had 2 viruses in the last few months that I thought I completely fixed. I'm running Windows XP with SP2.

Having 4 svchost running is not unreasonable.

What you should watch out for are misspellings such as scvhost or svchosts and the like which indicate malware.

Also if, in your case, svchost is running from a directory other than system32, you likely have a problem. (I just finished working a couple of threads in Spyware Forum where this was the case - see the links below)
