    Hello fellas!

I need your help here! Here is my situation.

What happened is the following. Two days ago i had a problem when i boot up my computer and the problem was that. I was trying to launch my Spyware program and did not work. And i went to downlaod Sypbot on the net and everytime i tried to install it, you see the software asking me " You are bout to install blablalba" then i click and when i saw the Agreement thing, everytime i click next, the page box installtion disappear. So i'm like hat that ****!!

So everytime i was going in my HD to a folder that has a program with the name SPYWARE, the folder windows shutdown and back with windows refreshed. I'm like holy shit. Went on the net trying to download a free spyware, everytime type in search with the word spyware, Firefox quited. I'm like holy shit.

Then i boot my computer in Safe mode and went install Spybot and Paretologic and Scan all the way, cleaned up everything and reboot normally.. Everything looks to be fine and Bam!! what do i see? That message in thescreenshyot i just sent here. And i had Kaspersy internet security installed and i unnstalled it and thats it that s what happened and since this morning i did that i've been having this SVCHOST jpeg dll problem appearing . When i click ok, just came back in a matter of seconds!

Now what i did is isntalling "HijackThis" and i got the Log file report that i'm going to post it here maybe this can help you help me:

    _____________

Edit by chaslang: Inline HJT log removed. READ & RUN ME sticky not followed.
    _________________

This is where i am now. The last thing i did to get rid of that box message that appears 5 second after i click OK, I went to Window Process and i saw 3 or 4 different file named : svchost.exe. waht i did is that i END the process of the one that was written in BIG CAP like this: SVCHOST.EXE. As soon as i end that one, the little pop up annorying message disappear and i was able to Launch my Spyware program.

I hope someone will be able to help me out here. Thank you in advance for your support!

    Sincerely!

    S:cry

    Hello Chaslang!

Thank u for responding and i apologize if i did not take the time to read the rules first. Simply because i"ve been al
l day trying to fix the problem with this Jpeg dll file missing. BUt in a way no that I've been reading the rules i noticed that i tried to follow the fix and did not happen. That is why i went directly to the stage of using HijackThis. I am now at home but tomorrow as soon as i get ib front of my infected computer, i will follow the rules on HOW to uplaod the Log file from HijackThis.

    Thank you very much!

HijackThis is the last thing we want. You need to complete the instructions as given in the link I have to you and it will automatically install, configure, and get a HijackThis log along with other required logs.

    Hey Chaslang!

How are you doing? Here i am finally an i just finish following all the steps after spending almost all my afternoon going thru. Here are my result after following the Rules and proceedure:

1 - step i followed: Uninstall Malware via Add/Remove Programs:
Results: Found Messenger Live PLus and Uninstalled it

    2- Use MSconfig to setup for Normal Startup Mode;
Result: I did put the computer to Normal mode and reboot

    3- Removed all Quarantine files

4- Downloaded CCleaner and runed it as asked in normal windows and in Safe mode= Done

5- Downloaded ComboFix and got the log file

6- INstalled Spybot and followed the steps

7- Installed AVG antispyware and got result but when it finishes, i clcik on APPLY ACTION and went to report there was nothing to SAVE.

8- Finished running MGTools.exe and done and i have a ZIP file.

And after i finish every step, i did reboot and everytime i am still 'till now getting the same message box:
    http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...ostJpegdll.jpg

If you can help me now, please do, as i said before one thing i noticed is that in my Explorer Process window i see plenty of SVCHOST.exe file but the one that seem to give me this message box is the one written in CAP mode like this: SVCHOST.EXE. And as soon as i kill that process, the little box message disappears.

Thank you very much, please HELP!

    Re: last one!!

Please only follow the instructions given in the READ & RUN ME. You are supposed to be attach logs from ComboFix, AVG Antispyware and the C:\MGlogs.zip file and nothing else. You already attached ComboFix and MGlogs.zip in message # 9. You did not need to do what you did in message # 10 or what you tried to do in message #11. But you do need to attach the log from AVG Antispyware.

Something is not correct in your MGlogs.zip file. There should be a hijackThis log included in this file automatically. When you first ran MGtools.exe, did you see HijackThis and a log popup after a minute or so?

    Re: last one!!

Hello Chaslang! Once again i apologize for the mistakes. Ok from now on i will follow the Steps.

Concerning AVG, as i told you, once the AVG finished doing its thing, i followed step by step what was asked me to do wich is click on APPLY ALL ACTION right? And then go to Report page and Save. As i mentioned before, i went to report and there was NADA and i could not SAVE anything.

As for MGlogs.zip. Yes i did at one point saw a Window opened saying HIjackthis and it ask me ot accept or decline. And what was confusing is rthat in the notes (in the rules) it told me to just closed that window, so I DID. And this is what i got only!!

Do you need me to re-run this again and erase the MGlogs.zip i have now?

    Thank you for your support!

    Re: last one!!

Okay! That explains it. Please accept the the TrendMicro message about HijackThis so that it will run properly. Here is how you can quickly get new logs. Just locate the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file and double click on it. When it finishes you will see HijackThis popup along with a HijackThis log. Just close the HijackThis log and HijackThis windows. Then attach the new MGlogs.zip file.

I see you ignore the step about not using Spybot's Teatimer. You need to disable Teatimer now.

    Re: last one!!

You still have Spybot's Teatimer running. You need to disable this as requested in my last message and in the READ & RUN ME. ANd you need to do this now or some of the below may not work.

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11

Run HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [User Themes] C:\Program Files\Spy software 007\svchost.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTTask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\jusched.exe"
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: fsp_lmwl - C:\WINDOWS\

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it
double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
    Now run Ccleaner!

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. Avenger
    2. run GetLogs.bat and attach a new MGlogs.zip file
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 8 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.

It was in the Spybot instructions in the READ ME, but I'll repeat it here: How to disable Spybot's TeaTimer

Yes if they will be readable by you that way (which I seriously doubt since formatting will be lost), but you only need to close the browser when running HijackThis so it really should not be necessary to copy anything into a notepad file.

Finally Here i am with GREAT RESULTS

    Hey Chaslang!

Wow i am speechless man! Who do you guys do this? I mean after i ran Avenger and it reboot NO MORE PROBLEM anymore, that Annoying window disappeared and everything is CLEAN crystal. Thank you so so so much and i will remember this night and day and have already noted everything just in case for next time and man this FORUM is the BEST forum in the world. I'm glad i'm part of it now.

I'm going now to follow Step 8 and disable System Restor, reboot and Re-enable it back.

Chaslang! So now that i'm malware free, what advice can you give me because i use this computer for MUSIC production. What are the Software such as Firewall and Antispyware that you do suggest and the best way to stay malware free that you do suggest? Because also you know a music computer sometimes people don't advice having Antispyware's software running while recording etc..?

Finally once again, thank you a millions of time. You've saved my day and my life here.

    Truly!:)

    edit:

Can i finally also go on RUn and msconfig and choose Selective Startup? I think i'm gonna go thru the forum all the way and find answer because i would like to know more about Services what to disable and not to make my computer run smoothly!! Thank you a millions of time again!!

    Edit Finall;

Chaslang! Woudl you please quickly check that JPEG screenshot i posted here because i just found these files in my External Lacie HD and i never saw these files before since today. And the worst of it, when i select them to ERASE them, here is the message i get:

" The file "folder.jpg' is a system file. If you remove it, your computer or one of your program may no longer work properly etc.." Any clue? Never saw this 'till today thank you again for all!!

Re: Finally Here i am with GREAT RESULTS

This infor will be in my final instructions when we get to them. ;) It would be a very very bad idea to have no protection software installed If you wish to disable your antivirus, antispyware, and firewall while recording then you should make sure your PC has not physical access to the internet or other PCs or a network at this time. Otherwise you are at risk of being exposed to infections.

No! PCs should only be run in selective startup mode for temporary debugging. If you have things loading at startup that you don't need then uninstall them. If you need the software but not the part that loads at startup, configure the program not to load at startup. If you cannot find a way to stop it from loading, permanently remove the start entry using HijackThis or a real startup manager like this: Startup CPL

They do not appear to be problems. You probably never noticed them before if you did not have viewing of hidden and system files enabled which was enabled while running the READ ME.

Run HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVG7_CC] C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgcc.exe /STARTUP
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [User Themes] C:\Program Files\Spy software 007\svchost.exe

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Now use Windows Explorer to delete
    :
C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! Live <--- the whole folder:

    Now run Ccleaner

    Now reboot in normal mode

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.
    1. ShowNew
    2. HJT

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Re: Finally Here i am with GREAT RESULTS

Your logs are clean. If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix, you can delete the ComboFix.exe file, C:\ComboFix folder, C:\QooBox folder, C:\WINDOWS\nircmd.exe, and the C:\combofix.txt log that was created.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    5. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    6. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    7. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    8. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    9. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    10. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    11. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Is this the first time this has happened to you?
Do you get any error messages? Or does nothing at all happen?
Does it run if you boot in safe mode?

    Does the C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe file exist?

    • Click on Start, then Run ... type services.msc into the box that opens up, and press 'OK'.
    • On the page that opens, scroll down to Client/Server Runtime Server Subsystem
    • then right click the entry, select Properties and press Stop Service.
    • When it shows that it is stopped, next please set the Start-up Type to 'Disabled'.
    • Click OK until you get back to Windows.
    • Next, run HJT, but instead of scanning, click on the None of the above, just start the program button at the bottom of the choices.
    • At the lower right, click on the Config button
    • Then click the Misc tools button
    • Select Delete an NT Service
    • Copy/pasteCSRSS into the box that opens, and press OK
    • If you receive any error messages just ignore them and continue.
    • Now exit HJT and reboot when it tells you it needs to.
After reboot does IE work in normal boot mode? If not, shutdown (or uninstall) your Comodo Firewall. Does it work now?

Attach a new HJT log now too!

    Re: IE still Not working!

    Hello Chaslang!

Just followed all the steps you've asked to do to make IE work and still not working. And to be honest with you, its all good. I don't really care about IE. But my question to you is: the fact that IE is not working, will it affect the stability of my System? Because i'm using Firefox and Safari. Enough for me

Secondly, i do use this software called Utorrent and since yesterday i'm trying to launch it and it does exactly like IE, it feels like it wants to start but not starting. And when i check in my Windows Process, i see it there but can not access it or see its Window. What i did, i downlaoded teh new version, installed above when i opened my computer today then it says that its already running. Then i went to try to kill the process did not work. Now that i followed your steps to fix IE, i had to reboot my computer and i check the Process and utorrent is not there anymore. But i did not try to restart it back again!

Do you have an idea what this can be caused by?

Thank you.. here is my new Hijack Log

EDIT: By the way, i jsut launched Utorrent back and it does the same thing, i see the mouse going like its starting the program and not showing up. Checked my Process Explorer with Sysinternals and try to kill the process result could not kill the process. This is crazy!!!

    Re: IE still Not working!

It will not affext system stability but it will affect your ability to access various websites (like Microsoft update for one and many others) and it may impact certain programs that will require it to work. This may include Utorrent.

Since IE works in safe mode (and I bet Utorrent does too), it sounds like something you are running is interfering with the ability of IE to properly run. You will need to experiment using MSconfig to stop various startups and services from loading at startup and by process of elimination hopefully determine which one.

    Re: IE still Not working!

Where is the log from the rootkit scan I requested?

You are missing the point. What we are doing now with MSconfig is debugging where your problem is occurring? Since it did not happen in safe mode, we are trying to find out what could be loading in normal boot mode that could be causing your issue with IE. Remember this is only a debugging session. Under normal operation, you should not be using MSconfig to disable anything. This was mentioned in the READ ME and I also restated this in message # 20.

What you need to do now is disable everything on the startup list and see if it cures the problem. Then based upon it fixing or not fixing the problem, you would do one of the below:
    • if the problem wih IE goes away with all startups disabled, slowly enable a couple at a time and reboot afterwards and see if you can locate the offending process
    • if the problem with IE does NOT go away with all startups disabled, leave them disabled and go to the Services tab and disable all services. Then repeat the same logic as above to see if you can locate the offending service. Note that with ALL services disable, many normal things on your PC will not work. For example, even if IE runs and a window appears, you will not be able to get an internet connection.
    • if disabling everything of both the Startup and Services tabs does not help. You could then try usin Diagnostic Startup (see the General tab of msconfig) and see what happens in normal boot mode.
The idea here is to use MSconfig for the purpose it was designed for.....and that is debugging issues like you are having.

    What if i reinstall IE?

Hey Chaslang? How are you? I've tried to uncheck or disable some Service and Startup program without success. The problem persist. I disabled Comodo to start, AVG Antispyware etc.. nada.

I still have IE 6 something, i did not install IE 7, do you think if there could be any chances if i install IE7 to fix the problem?

Thank you very much in advance for your time and answer.

You never did what I requested in message # 32.

Did try using Diagnostic Startup? If not try it and tell me what happens.

I doubt it, but I don't know for sure. It still sounds like you could have something blocking it from loading. Like something in your protection software. Or your iexplore.exe file is corrupted. What is the file size and date of iexplore.exe (its in the C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer folder).

    IE.exe size file!

    Hello Chaslang!

Thank you for your time again. Here is the size of the .exe IE = 91.0KB.

Also i've noticed lately a problem with BLUESCREENS of Death. Everytime i leave my computer on for the night and back the morning after (downloading some stuff on the net) or even somtimes without downloading anything, lately i got these two bluescreen with different messages! I would like to know if i would happen to have a Hardware problem.

Here are the links to see the screenshots:

    Re: IE.exe size file!

At this point I would suggest you continue with your problems in the Software Forum. It would appear that you are having software and possibly also hardware issues. You should post a message there listing your problems that remain and you should give a link to this thread so that others may refer to the snapshots you have taken of your BSODs.
