To get right to the point: I have no less than nine "svchost.exe" processes running on my computer. Three are by "NETWORK SERVICE," two by "LOCAL SERVICE," and the remaining five by "SYSTEM." None of them are using up CPU percentage, and only one us using more than 6,000K of system memory, although that one is using 38,112 K. Is this normal? I am aware of the exploit that uses this process, but none of these seem to be doing anything. Thanks a bunch.

svchost.exe is a valid Windows process (as long as it is running from the system32 folder which Task Manager will not tell you!! ) and you will typically see 3 to 6 of them running. However if you run more things than the average user you may see more of them. And yes, one may be using a significant amount of RAM.

Awesome, thanks, man. Just out of curiosity, what purpose does that process actually serve? Just if you happen to know offhand; I'll probably forget I even asked as soon as a shiny object happens within vision.

    Thanks again!
