svcmon.exe

anyone know what this is, it kept on asking permission to access the internet from my zone-alarm firewall i denyed it, but its not apart of windows or if it is its not the original and its definately dodgy, i run avg antispyware, avg antivirus, spybot s&d, ad-aware se personal and spyware blaster, a program called security task manager is really useful too if you want to check it out!

 

This is Spyware and you should uninstall it.

thankyou for your advice, but i followed the link you gave me and "This is a valid program, but it is up to you whether or not you want it to run on startup." tells me its a part of windows and is completely valid, coupled with the fact that all my fully updated av and as software cant find it, it doesnt seem to be spyware, so i ask, what are you basing that claim on? i really want to find out so i can leave it blocked in my firewall or unblock a legit process....... :major i-CONICA:major

 

It is not a part of Windows. svcmon.exe is part of Personal Inspector and is spyware. The link I gave you is telling you that the program is a valid program, but that it is Spyware and it is up to you whether or not you want this program to run at startup.

 

thankyou, that cleared things up for me, i quaratined the file with security task manager and it can no longer run at start up or ever, so ill see how it goes without that file! once again cheers..... :dood :major i-CONICA:major
