Sychost.exe and Generic Host Processor??

Can anyone please tell me about the above? I've looked on line, which seems to tell me that sychost is something to do with a worm? Is this correct?

And do I need to give generic host processor access to the internet? I'd like to know what its function is before I graciously accede to its request.

Words of few syllables, please, for the hard of understanding.

if it is spelt and described as you spelt it then I would DENY it access to anything.

However I think you meant to say : Svchost.exe and Generic Host Process which is a core component of the windows operating system

You are of course completely right. Not only hard of understanding, but dyslexic too!

If you look up sychost.exe on google, you get that it is a process added to the system as a result of the LEOX.B VIRUS. Therein lies the confusion.

No problem, you should be aware that some other malware also poses as this file, if you want to be completely sure you should check the path of the file that is running and trying to access the internet.

It should be in this location

%system32%\svchost.exe which on a normally setup system would probably be C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe

if you have a file named svchost in any other location then it is probably malware.
