Sygate question, real quick

I know Sygate has been killed off by Symantec, what I'd like to know is, is it still sufficient for basic users?
I heard that Zone Alarm is mediocre now at best and others may be too intense for newbies and surfing (ie - my mother lol).
I thought maybe Sygate would be fine since it gives a simple question and you can answer with a yes, no or cancel and the "remember this answer" checkbox.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Sygate Personal Firewall was and still is an effective firewall. It's older versions can still be found.
I myself am using an older version of Comodo(version 2.4) Personal that I saved to a USB drive long ago. Goes on every machine I get.

You don't like the new Comodo, seems pretty good, although the million and one questions it asks you every second can be annoying. lol

Did try it for a short while. Decent enough, but I preferred the older interface.
