Symantec?

    I have Rogers Hi Speed Internet here in Canada.They offer free Symantec Security Suite.Would it be advisable to use it?

    It would be advisable as long as there are no subscription periods set to expire within a few months. If there are, then I would not even bother. There are (likely) better programs available for free.

    Symantec is a resource hog. Though it is the top selling AV package on the market, it is not the best. All these packages offered by various ISPs have some kind on free subscription period. Once that expires you will have to purchase a subscription. They are typically 30, 60, or 90 days. Some offer subscription periods as long as 1 year. None of them come with a perpetual license. Symantec, McAffee, and Computer Associates would go out of business otherwise.

    My ISP offers CA EZ Trust security suite for free as long as I'm a customer. Ask if there is a time limit. If so, there are many free options without a time limit. If not, check into comparisons and customer ratings befor picking one.
