Is there a way to set up a symbolic link in dos? Something like "javac = c:\jdk1.5.0\bin\javac.exe"

    Thank you for your time.

Yes, but just to clearify, you mean the windows command line right?

Dos and the command line you use in windows are VERY diffrent things.

In the event your talking about at the windows command line you just use the set command. In your case "Set javac = c:\jdk1.5.0\bin\javac.exe", you can also just type set all by itself to view all the current ones.

To access it you'd then use %javac%. For example the command "echo %javac%" would just print "c:\jdk1.5.0\bin\javac.exe"

If you need it to stay forever as a set variable right click my computer, select properties and go to the advanced tab. Then just click the "environment variables" button and add it there.

If you actually meant true dos, I think the procedure is pretty much the same. But if it doesn't work let me know and I'll try to remember harder.

Yes, thank you, I did mean the command line. Sorry for the confusion.

That does answer my question, and makes compiling much easier. Thank you very much!
