Sys keeps rebooting at start up

My sys wont start up because it gets as far as the wallpaper then reboots. This happens every time.

I am posting this in software because safe mode works fine.

I am running XP PRO on a 2 yr old 32 bit sys with maxed out ram. As for the rest of the inards of the sys my goldfish probably knows more than me so it is obvious that I know not a lot about bios n stuff like that.

You folks have been great in helping me in the past so thats why I am here again.

This sounds more like a software issue so you have posted in the right place, I would suspect that there is a corrupt start up file that is causing the issue. Try disabling all of your start up items and then enable them one at a time rebooting each time (pain in the rectum but the best way to pinpoint)...

To disable start up programs...

Click on Start >> Run and in the run line type in “msconfig” hit enter or click on OK.

Next click on the Start Up tab. By default all items are usually checked, but you can remove any items that you don’t feel need to be running when you start your computer.

After you have made your selection, click Apply, OK and Restart. You should now notice a remarkable improvement in your start up time.

Something else that might help:

Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure.

In Control Panel:
System -> Advanced tab -> Startup and Recovery
click the Settings button
then under the System Failure heading, Uncheck Automatically Restart
