I'm following all the steps you describe to get rid of junk in the "read me first thread", but when I get to the bitfinder, it won't let me install. it told me that the system administrator will not allow it. I did try it from the admin account, as well as home, with the same results

It's a home computer, and I'm the administrator.

I'm in safe mode, and ran CCleaner on the home and admin accounts, and ran spybot. Found nothing with either program.

what's up, and how do I correct it?

BitDefender is an online scan ....not an installed program. You need to do the scan with Internet Explorer.

If you run into any problems ..skip it (but let us know) and do as much as you can and then attach the requested logs.:)
