Hello...new to the Forum and looking for assistance with removing a very annoying pop up. I've done some preliminary research but I'm just a little intimidated by all the information on malware removal. I don't mind following a detailed plan for removal just want to be sure I'm following the correct process before I get started.

When the alert comes up, it directs me to install VirusRemover2008 and the url in my task manager is *http: powerfulvirusremover2008.com*- VirusRemover2008 - MicroSoft Internet Explorer. Eventually a Fatal Error box comes up.

Please Help! I'm experiencing some serious AGGRAVATION!!!!!!!!!

Run the below guide and if malware not removed with the steps then attach the logs for one of our malware experts to review and they will issue you with some manual instructions to remove this pest.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run theREAD & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can running steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

plus a guide on how to attach the logs HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post

I'm on it..thanks!! Under Step 2 where it mentions installing Spybot, I had been using that application for some time and I believe that TeaTimer was installed by default. The instructions specifically state to NOT install TeaTimer. Should I remove and reinstall Spybot or just let it run as is with TeaTimer installed?

In the READ &RUN instructions for running Spybot, it gives you a link explaining how to disable Teatimer; however if you have been run Spybot for "a long time" are you sure that you have the current 1.6 version. If not then uninstall what you have and then install the version given in the READ & RUN ME.
