I have had this problem for about 3 days now. When my system is sitting idle I keep getting a "System Alert" pop-up window stating that I have Trojan Zlob.G virus and directs me to a fake website where the only clickable link is to download their "antivirus". I have spent the last 3 days reading threads with similar problems and tried the suggested removal procedures to no luck. I keep getting the pop-up every 5-15 minutes, and every time I open my browser (Firefox 3.0.4) My homepage www.google.com is in the address bar, but what is displayed on the screen is a warning saying my navigation was put on hold due to insecure browsing risks, and I am prompted to go back to the same fake website to download "antivirus" until I click the home or refresh buttons. Any help in getting this crap off my computer would be much appreciated!

Posted is a copy of my HJT log.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

After posting this thread, one of the antivirus or spyware programs I downloaded from reading your responses to similar posts must have kicked in and prompted my system to run 7 updates when powering off. When I ran the updates and restarted my computer, my AVG quarantined a system restore file, and 2 .dll files. I wiped the files from the virus vault and everything seems to be working fine now - no security risk pop-ups or pirated home page. For good measure I followed up with the malware removal steps and system running better now than it was before the problem started.

Thanks for the assist and speedy response!
    *salute*
